IT WORKS REALLY WELL!
At last after years of putting up with inferior products, having installed Heron Deterrent on several customers' ponds, I can finally say we have a Heron deterrent that actually works and works well. Heron Deterrent is a pleasure to fit and it looks great when installed. Steve is a pleasure to do business with .

I AM DELIGHTED...
I am delighted with my Heron Deterrent solution to our heron visitors. It fitted perfectly around the various curves of my kidney shaped pool, and was absolutely no trouble to fit. I used a pair of pliers to cut the plastic meshwork and the clips were easy to engage. I have not bothered to attach it to the sides of the pond as it holds itself in place quite well. I did rather over estimate how many I needed and was left with 6 spares, but these have come in useful as bespoke drain covers to keep the leaves out of my variously shaped drains.
Heron Deterrent has many advantages: not only does it keep the heron out of the pond and the cat away from the fish, it enables the wildlife access to the water in a way that my previous solution (a net weighted down with stones around the edge) did not.
The birds have adapted quickly and now sit on the shapes to bathe. The foxes can drink from the edge, whereas the net used to prevent this. The fish now have open space in the middle to feed and the dragonflies and damsel flies, that used to struggle to get to the water because of the net, can now access most of the surface.
This Spring when the many toads arrive who breed in the pond I am hopeful that they will find it easier to get into and out of the water. Very occasionally a toad used to get trapped in the net and would need to be freed, and I was always worried that the net acted as barrier to them. I will let you know how the toads get on when they arrive in the next few weeks but I believe that they will simply climb over the Heron Deterrent and drop into the water. They will also be able to climb out all around the pond, whereas previously I used to have to open the net at one end and hope that the toads would find this exit.
Overall, this was not a cheap solution, but it is a lot more attractive that the old one. From a distance the Heron Deterrent is not visible and I much prefer it to the old net and stones solution which I always considered ugly. In the long run it won’t cost a great deal more than netting the pond, as this had to be replaced every year or so as it became entangled with weed. The Heron Deterrent looks indestructible, and I expect it to last for many years to come.

SEEMS TO BE WORKING
Hi Steve As you know the shelfs to my new pond are quite wide so I needed to have a double row of Heron Deterrent, also I had to remove any plants from the shelfs as Mr Heron stood on the plants. He comes around every day but as yet he has not cracked it, the Heron Deterrent seems to be working. Thanks

I HAVENT LOST A FISH
Hi Steve I have installed Heron Deterrent all-round the perimeter of my pond, they stay in place without anchoring and I haven't lost a fish since they were installed. So far so good very impressive.

NO SUCCESS FOR THE HERON!
Hi Steve Just a note to update you on the Heron Deterrent now they are installed, as I explained I have tried various methods over the years to foil our local heron muggers. There was the movement activated water jet which soaked everyone every time they went near the pond, not my finest hour!
Then there was the plastic heron placed next to the pond, one of the local herons landed next to it, took a sideways look and asked what the fishing was like. Next came the net covered 15mm copper pipe frame all nicely soldered together by my good self which, with todays copper prices, was worth at least 10 times more than the fish it was protecting, and I have to admit was really ugly.
As you can see from the pictures the Heron Deterrent fits snuggly round the pond, is unobtrusive even with no foliage in the pond yet. All the segments act on each other in the circular pond so they stay in place naturally. So far the heron has paced around the pond looking for weak spots without success, and I hope, gone elsewhere to find another fish monger!

JUST PERFECT...
Hello Steve, This system is just perfect.I have spent hundreds of euros before to protect my pond. Light flashes, bird of prey sound machine, water splashes, imitation heron, silver ball's.ext. Nothing really helps. The best thing I ever had was the self-made wires around my pound.or a complete cover net in winter time. But it was not really esthetic. And cats have no problem with this. But this.It beats them all. I have given friends already your coordinates. They were excited too.

DESIGN AND QUALITY
Hi Steve It took me less than an hour to fit them, which was fairly easy to do, there were a few that I had to modify slightly to fit perfectly, but the finish looks really good. I didn't need to anchor them back as they hold themselves in place once all clipped together. I did have five left over, but will keep them as spares. I have yet to see them in action against the Heron, but I can see from the design and quality that the Heron will fail to get my fish. That's the pond finished, only the lawn to lay around it to go. It was a pleasure doing business with you and I will happily recommend Heron Deterrent to other fish pond owners I know.
