How Do Herons Capture Their Prey?

Herons are skilled and patient hunters. They have excellent eyesight, allowing them to spot fish from a far distance, and they often return to spots they have fished in before, or know where there is food. They like to choose a vantage point near the water’s edge where they can observe fish before snatching them. The predator strikes, capturing a fish, but also can spike it with its sharp beak.
